Billing and Insurance

The UA Speech and Hearing Center is a fee-for-service clinic. Services are provided by or under the direct supervision of certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

We are in-network providers for the following insurance carriers:

  • BlueCross Blue Shield
  • Medicare Part B
  • Humana
  • Alabama Medicaid
    • Alabama Medicaid covers speech and hearing services for ages birth-20 years. It does not cover speech services for someone age 21+ unless the individual has a QMB Medicaid policy. Alabama Medicaid does not cover any hearing services for individuals age 21+.

Clients who have an insurance policy not listed, or whose policy does not cover our services, will be considered private pay. All private pay clients are billed for services based on the clinic’s established fee schedule for speech-language services and audiology services.

Most health insurance plans require that clients have a referral from a primary care physician to receive speech and/or hearing services. It is the client’s responsibility to be aware of their insurance plan’s referral requirements and ensure the Speech and Hearing Center receives the referral before the appointment.

Speech-language and hearing services may be paid for by check, cash, or credit card.

Our office staff is happy to answer additional questions about insurance and financial policies.
